Our first wine tasting at Good Measure with Tom Illsley from specialist importer Theatre of Wine was so popular (and very fun!) so we’ve managed to fit in another pre-Christmas tasting, on 26th November. This time the focus will be on finely structured, gastronomic wines, with seven served across the night.
Starting with a salty Catalan sparkling, two whites follow: an aromatic Alsatian blend and a broad shouldered Greek wine from the island of Chios. The reds begin with an old style clairet somewhere between light red and dark rose, then a perfumed, elegant Fleurie, a new wave, orange-scented Garnacha from Aragon and a rich, spicy red from the Douro valley.
Alongside the drinks, our chefs have dreamt up a series of dishes for the evening:
– Salmon crudo, almond, ponzu dressing
– Tuna cheeseburger bao, dill pickles, mango, burger sauce
– Grilled lemongrass chicken, spring onion and garlic sauce, lime dressed carrot daikon salad
– Crispy cumin lamb dumplings, sesame sauce
– French toast, plum compote, sesame cream
